Keep up to date on MCA's response to the Coronavirus

June 3, 2020

MCA Family,

We have been praying for unity at MCA. We need it now more than ever. Ephesians 4:2-3 says, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
Our world has changed, but our mission has not! We are passionate about the next generation. We are committed to doing life together in community. And we continue to look for creative ways to share the life giving power of Jesus with the world!
Jesus prays for the unity of his followers in John 17:23: He prays that we, “may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” That means that in our unity the love of God is on display for the whole world!
Unity is crucial because we need each other. Together we can accomplish what alone we could not. Let’s keep working together.

ITEMS OF INTEREST
• We are moving forward together. Step 1 is home churches, step 2 will be a relaunch at MCA with modifications. We have a team working very hard on all of the details and we will let you know as soon as we have determined a date.
• We are a praying church! Keep seeing the Lord and let us know how we can be praying for you.
• We have a new MCA App. We are in the process of implementing a new MCA Mobile App. An email will be going out this week with more information. As part of the new app we will also be transitioning our online giving to a new platform called Tithe.ly. The transition will be happening over the next several months. Keep an eye out for the email and check out the new app. If you use online giving, please consider making the change to Tithe.ly. You will be able to have both the existing app and the new app installed on your device at the same time.
• This Friday, June 5th, at 12PM, we will be hosting an online Bible Study for anyone who wants to join. Zoom link: https://bit.ly/3eMQZFe

MCA Family,

I hope that you all are doing well. I am Nick Mast, and I’m the worship leader here at MCA. I will be giving the weekly update for this week. First, though, I just want to say thank you to our church family. You guys have been awesome in reaching out to Allie and I over these previous weeks with everything that we’ve been going through as a family. It’s been a rough month for us. Thank you so much for your prayers, words of encouragement, and the meals that you guys have provided for us. We are insanely grateful for all of it. You guys rock!

I am also excited to be officially voted in as your worship leader. It’s been great being back here at MCA and being able to continue those old relationships that were kind of put on hold when I moved away. You guys have welcomed me back with open arms, and again, we are very grateful for that and we look forward to getting to know each of you even more.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

  • Between the end of March, all of April, and beginning of this month, we’ve had a local outreach event almost every week. We’ve partnered with some of our local businesses and did some different food outreach events, including a few meal distributions here at the church, and some pizza outreach events that involved some pizza deliveries.
  • We are currently selling new MCA t-shirts for our church family! They will be $10 each for all sizes. Head over to this link to order some for you and your family: https://bit.ly/mcaT-Shirts
  • We as a church are going to be involved in the Fredericksburg Fourth of July parade this year, so we will need some volunteers. We will need a couple of people to hold up our banner in the parade, and some more people to walk behind the banner handing out water bottles and t-shirts. We also could use people to help with parking at the event. We will want everyone that volunteers to be wearing our new t-shirts, so be sure to order one if you want to help out. Please reach out to me if you are interested in volunteering.
  • Please come to me if you have or know of any work projects that we could be doing as a church. I am the local outreach coordinator, but that doesn’t mean that I have to come up with all of the ideas. I would love to have your help as well. If you bring opportunities to me, I will help coordinate them.
  • As you know, we started our house church groups a couple of weeks ago. If you want to join a group, or if you want to be a host, please head over to this link: mcachurch.org/mcaathome
  • This Friday, May 29, at 12PM, we will be hosting an online Bible Study for anyone who wants to join.  Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/98557786827
  • Our online services are streamed live on Facebook and YouTube each Sunday at 10AM. We can’t wait to see you guys join us and be active in the comments. You can either go to our Facebook page to watch the live stream, or you can go to the MCA YouTube channel. Here is the link for our YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/MCAWatch

ACTION STEPS

PRAY – draw near to God. Pour out your burdens as you seek His face. Lift up the individuals and families most affected by the virus with sickness, death, and loss of employment.

CONNECT – talk with others in your core group, share prayer requests with the MCA leaders, and tune in on Sundays at 10AM for our livestream.

GIVE – thank you for your generosity! Our ministry depends on your tithes and offerings and we appreciate your faithfulness as we share the life giving power of Jesus with the world. You can give online or mail checks to the church building.

May 20, 2020

MCA Family,
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this fellowship. June 1 will mark one year since I joined you in ministry! Thank you for all of the ways that you have welcomed the Risner family and ministered to us. My prayer is that your heart grows stronger and your faith grows deeper. Keep seeking the Lord! Keep your eyes open for where God is at work!
Let’s band together and encourage one another. Let’s reach out to neighbors and unbelievers to share our reasons for hope. It is tempting to bellyache about “the government,” “guidelines,” “those people!” But let’s offer grace – even to those with whom we disagree. Let’s make room for different reactions to our crisis and stand together.
I also want to caution against fear and anxiety. If you are vulnerable or high risk, use caution. If you have relatives who are elderly or high risk, help them and check on them. If you are not comfortable with joining a home church because you think it is unsafe for you or your family, please stay home.
As a church, we are ready to move forward! This situation has caused us to rethink church. What is church? At MCA we are highly committed to connecting with others and doing life together. We do that through our core groups. Do our core groups have a clear vision? What is our mission and can we still accomplish it if we are not holding events in our building?
Part of our vision is to share the life giving power of Jesus with the world. What are the best ways to accomplish that? Nick has been coordinating local outreach projects each week. We are blessing those in our community. We are helping them, we are serving them, we are showing them the love of Christ. I am not sure we would have done that otherwise.
Jeremy has been sitting down with our people and listening to their stories and then sharing them for Testimony Tuesday. I am not sure that we would be hearing those otherwise. One family in our church told me about a person who tuned in on Facebook that would never darken the door of a church. These stories highlight what we are studying in the book of Esther: that God is at work. And that as we join in the mission, we see his plan unfolding. And God’s plans are to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give you a hope and a future.

ITEMS OF INTEREST
• Home Church Plan – we are gathering in home churches as our next step. If you feel that it is in the best interest of your health to not participate, we honor that. Some groups are forming from core groups, some are forming by family groups, and others by geographical region. If you are the leader of a core group, I would encourage you to talk with your members and decide what the best plan for you is. Go to https://mcachurch.org/mcaathome and let us know how you would like to participate.
• THANK YOU to Paul Troyer and the group that mulched at MCA this past weekend! Lori Troyer, Ryan Troyer, Michael Shoup, Jadon Hostetler, Andy Benderoth, Drew Staken, & Mike Miller. Great job! It looks wonderful!
• Join us for our Friday Zoom Bible Study at 12noon (May 22).
Zoom Meeting: https://bit.ly/3fIrqq9
Password: mca
• Online service – We will be streaming Live at 10AM on Facebook and Youtube. Choose the platform that best suits you.

ACTION STEPS
PRAY – draw near to God. Pour out your burdens as you seek His face. Lift up the individuals and families most affected by the virus. Lift up public health officials and healthcare workers on the frontlines. Pray for the lost and the lonely and those who are scared. Pray for the next generation, that we would reach them with for Christ. Pray for the recent graduates who are entering a strange world.
CONNECT – stay connected through calls, texts, and checking in on one another. Join a home church if you haven’t signed up. We will do our best to find a group that is right for you. Or talk with others in your core group and host a home church. And let us know how we can pray for you and serve you!
GIVE – thank you for your generosity! Our ministry depends on your tithes and offerings and we appreciate your faithfulness as we share the life giving power of Jesus with the world. You can give online or mail checks to the church building.

May 13, 2020

MCA Family,
Many of you are eager to gather again as a church family! Some are even upset that people are allowed to shop but we are not back at church. I am also very eager to be together again! I love our fellowship but I do not think we should rush this process. At MCA we shake hands, give hugs and pats on the back. None of that happens at Walmart. In addition, many of our people are going to be in the high risk category for getting sick, but they will be there when the doors open. My desire to be face to face with all of our people on a Sunday is balanced with my concern that ONE could get sick because I was in a hurry to get us all back in the same room. So we are being wise and diligent in moving forward. And the Lord will help us find the right, safe balance and keep everyone healthy.
We continue to take proactive measures to ensure the wellbeing of our congregation and our community while monitoring the situation surrounding the coronavirus.
Thank you for joining us in seeking the Lord and asking His wisdom and direction for MCA. And please let me know if there are any ways that we can serve you or your family at this time.

Our ministry has not shut down, despite not meeting together on Sundays. I want to remind you that the Lord is at work! We are continuing to take proactive measures to ensure the wellbeing of our congregation and those in our community while monitoring the situation surrounding COVID-19. I want to warn you against going into emotionally dark places! Don’t be paranoid. Like the guy who was like, “I don’t trust stairs! They’re always up to something!” Don’t succumb to finger pointing, blaming, or negativity. John 3:21 says, “Whoever lives by the truth comes into the light.”

MCA family,
The countdown to Resurrection Sunday is on! It is Holy Week and we are bringing a daily devotional from one of our team. Today marks the beginning of Passover, and in Luke 22 we read about Judas betraying Jesus. Maybe Jesus didn’t live up to his expectations. With all that is going on in our world, we can be tempted to do the same thing. Who knows better, you or God? We look forward to Resurrection Sunday. God has called us out of the shadows and into the light.

March 18, 2020

MCA Church Family,

Last Sunday we launched our first Sunday Morning Live Stream sermon using Facebook. It went really well and provided a way for MCA to connect, virtually, despite the COVID-19 restrictions. We hope that you were able to join that service and found it to be meaningful.

Our MCA Church Council held a meeting last night to discuss the COVID-19 issues and to determine the appropriate next steps for MCA. During that meeting, the following decisions were made:

• We will shift Sunday Morning Worship Services to online streaming for the next three weeks. This will cover March 22nd, 29th and April 5th .
• All Wednesday Night Services are being suspended until April 8th.
• A weekly communication video will be posted each Wednesday and sent out to the church.
• The Worship Leader Ballot voting for Nick Mast will close on Sunday March 22nd.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers as we work through the COVID-19 pandemic. As you look ahead, we want to encourage you with a few action steps that you can take.

ACTION STEPS
1. Continue to Pray: Keep seeking the Lord and pray for our leaders and those working to control COVID-19.
2. Continue to Give: Our ministry at MCA depends on your continued financial support. Consider mailing in your donation or use the online giving options.
3. Continue to Connect: Keep good communication with your friends at Church. Don’t become disconnected or lose track of one another.

We are planning on another Facebook Live Streaming event for Sunday March 22nd and hope to see you then.

March 13, 2020

MCA Church Family,

It has been a crazy week! Like many of you, we have been monitoring the coronavirus situation. We want to do our part to ensure the health of those most vulnerable, so we have decided that we will not hold our regular worship service this weekend.

This does not mean that MCA has “shut down.” In fact, with schools closed for the next three weeks, we will have an opportunity to minister to those in our community. We are currently developing plans to bless our neighbors in Fredericksburg (and beyond) during this time.

ACTION STEPS

  • Join us in praying for Governor DeWine, Dr. Acton (Director of Ohio Department of Health), and other leaders as they make difficult decisions aimed at keeping Ohioans and healthcare workers safe and healthy.
  • Connect with those in your family, neighborhood, and core group.
  • Tune in via Facebook Live on Sunday morning, March 15 @ 10:00AM to hear this week’s message in our TechWise series.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will make a decision for the March 22 worship service early next week. Wednesday night programing for JAM and Jr High has been cancelled for the next 3 weeks.

I look forward to when we next gather together! I am praying for you and asking the Lord to supply us with wisdom. “Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity…”Ephesians 5:15-16
